From Client Management
Subject CME Migration of 3270 and C21 Workstations from CME LAN to the FIN
Effective Date 08/28/00
Notice Number CM#0012

Deadline November 1, 2000

As you are aware, earlier this year we announced that the CME is migrating CME tower devices off of the CMEs Token Ring LAN and onto firms FIN (Futures Industry Network) frame relay connections. Initially, we focused on MerQuote PCs and TOPS Terminals. We are adding to that list any remaining devices that use the CME LAN, which would include firm PCs that are used for 3270 emulation (GUS,TES, ATOM, GAINS, etc) or C21 Workstations that connect to the CME via our LAN. This does not include workstations that communicate through your firms AS/400 or mainframe, nor trading floor connections.

You will need to coordinate with your network administrator on getting these devices (PCs) added to your network and configured to communicate through the CME FIN. If your office in our towers does not have currently have access to the FIN, you must contact Systems Liaison at one of the numbers listed below to make arrangements to order circuits and discuss connectivity and costs. We will also need to coordinate the disconnection of your device from our LAN, so we are asking each 3270 or C21 workstation CME LAN user to complete the attached form as soon as possible, but no later than Friday, September 15th, and return it to Systems Liaison.

The deadline for converting firm device connections in the CME towers to the FIN is November 1, 2000. If you have any questions about this requirement or about the connectivity requirements for the FIN, you can contact Karen F. McCoy at (12) 930-4524 (kmccoy@cme.com) or Farris Oweimrin (312) 648-4780 (foweimri@cme.com). Thank you.
